1. Point
Hook points are commonly referred to as the following names: needle point, rolled-in, hollow, spear, beak, mini-barb, semi-dropped and knife edge. A high quality fishing hook has a very sharp point, and will hold a point for a longer period of time compared to a lower quality one.
2. Eye
The eye is the part that attaches the fishing hook to the fishing line, the bait or the leader. There are many kinds of eyes in commercial hooks; ringed eyes and welded rings are the most common for tuna hooks.
3. Shank and Bend
Shank and bend are the body of fishing hooks, and they account for a large part of the hook price. Shank is the part from the eye to the spot where the body begins to bend; the bend starts from the spot to the point of the fishing hook. 4. Gap/Gape
The gap refersto the shortest distance between the hook point and hook shank.
